DAYTON TAVARES

Dayton Tavares began dancing at the age of nine and after a mere few years of training, he landed the leading role of Billy in the musical “Billy Elliot” in both the Sydney and Melbourne productions.

In 2009, Tavares made his Broadway debut as Billy and continued these performances until December of 2010. Whilst in the USA, Dayton Tavares performed the American National Anthem at a New York Giants Game and received a coveted standing ovation from the First Lady for his solo performance at the White House. Dayton was also the recipient of a Green Room and Australian Dance Award for best male actor/performer in a musical in 2009.

Eager to enhance his career, Dayton furthered his skills, completing his Certificate IV in Dance at the Brent Street School Of Performing Arts Dayton Tavares has been a backup dancer for Johnny Ruffo on One Direction’s Australia Tour. Other credits include dancing on popular reality television shows such as The Voice Australia, and X-Factor Australia, as well as dancing behind celebrities such as Ricky Martin.

Earlier this year, Dayton Tavares was invited to join the stellar, original cast of the Dream Dance Company. The company; pioneered by two of Australia’s leading choreographers; Marko Panzic and Stephen Tannos, launched their first show, “Genesis,” in May. Tavares received beaming reviews and is looking forward to what the future holds for the company.

Dayton is thrilled to be joining the cast of “Aladdin and his Wondrous Lamp” and eagerly anticipates the next chapter of his career.
