Mark has been involved in performing and producing in professional theatre and entertainment for over 20 years.
As a performer he travelled the world in various shows for Qdos Entertainment, playing lead roles in several major tours alongside Shane Richie, Nigel Havers and David Essex to name but a few. He has also toured the UK as the presenter of both ‘The Sooty Show’ and ‘Rainbow Live!’ both featuring iconic UK children’s TV characters. In recent years Mark has been working on exciting future projects for Sooty, including a full-length Sooty feature film!
He finds himself most busy in his performance work these days as a stand-up comedian and presenter of live events. He particularly enjoys performing his children’s stand-up comedy shows, as these bring him in contact with the most brutal and merciless audiences he has ever faced!
Mark has spent the last eight years combining a very successful performing career with the more ‘behind the scenes’ roles of writing, directing and producing shows for theatre as well as the holiday resort and theme park industry.
As well as working with Sooty, Basil Brush and the cast of Rainbow in the past, Mark has more recently written concepts and scripts for various interactive activities for the much-loved Entertainment One characters Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly. He is also the Creative Associate on the current UK tour of “Peppa Pig’s Big Surprise”.
Since 2009 Mark has written, directed and produced over 500 shows for most of the major holiday and leisure resorts and theme parks around the world and provides voices for more than twenty different characters. He set up his own production company, Mark Jones Productions in 2013 and currently provides children’s shows for Haven Holidays, Ted Group (and their clients including First Choice and Sensatori Resorts), Park Resorts, Shorefield Holidays, Dreamland Margate, Brean Adventure Park, Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park, Billing Aquadrome and various others.
Mark is a huge fan of British rock band The Darkness, and in 2015 he was fortunate enough to land a part in their video for the single Last Of Our Kind. His performance was so memorable in that video that he has since appeared on stage with the band on several tours in the UK, and also Paris, New York and Boston! It really is worth checking out on YouTube…
Mark is delighted to be making his Australian debut here on the Gold Coast and cannot wait to sample the Australian way of life! You can learn more about Mark and see what he gets up to during his time here by following him on Twitter: @mistermarkjones.
