MAT VEREVIS

Mat Verevis was born and raised in Cairns, in the  Far North of Queensland. Brought up in a musical household, it was clear from an early age the Arts was in his blood.

Mat started singing and playing piano from the age of 8 and was taking to the stage only a few years later as Gavroche in Les Miserables. He then went on to study a Diploma of Creative Arts at James Cook University and a Bachelor of Music at Melbourne Conservatorium before heading to WAAPA to study Music Theatre. Whilst at WAAPA, Mat played Jack in Into The Woods, Womper in How To Succeed (in business without really trying) and Hermes in Xanadu directed by Crispin Taylor. In 2013, he played David in Stephen Colyer’s production of Torch Song Trilogy before his major break in 2014 on the hit talent show The Voice, making it to the top 4 on team will.i.am.

Since then Mat has signed a record deal with Universal Records and is currently writing and recording his first album with renowned producers and songwriters. 2015 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Mat and he is so excited to be playing Aladdin with this stellar cast, directed by the wonderful Bonnie Lythgoe.
