Gina Liano begins a new acting career as she celebrates turning 50
AT 36, Gina Liano was given a 34 per cent chance of surviving a bowel cancer diagnosis.
Today the Desperate Housewife will celebrate her 50th birthday while planning the next adventure — her foray onto the stage in Cinderella as the Wicked Stepmother.
Liano was in Sydney yesterday to play dress-ups with the cast of Bonnie Lythgoe’s new panto which takes to the stage at the State Theatre from July 1 to 17.

“I met Bonnie last year and she asked if I’d ever acted. I said ‘Yes I’ve just done Neighbours,’ and that was it — the Cinderella offer followed,” she said.
Liano will change into something less OTT for her birthday lunch at Rosetta in Melbourne with her mum Anita, sister Teresa, sons Christos, 26, and Myles, 19, her partner and girlfriends.
